The location was good, but the rooms were very old and tatty, needing a refurb; bathroom tiles were disgusting, the round bath and floor were yikes uneven and dangerous. Breakfast was awful, stone‑cold, and we were the only ones in the dining room; there was hardly anything there. The hot plate food was very cold, I had to ask to put breakfast in a microwave; no tea bags at the drink station, no plates or cutlery, and I had to ask for everything. I won’t stay again.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the hotel’s location near the cathedral and main shopping area was excellent. The check‑in staff were pleasant and helpful. However, the hotel was old and tired; the hall carpet was stuck down with tape in places, and the room was literally over the car park, so it was noisy at night with a nightclub opposite. The furniture had seen better days. Breakfast room and breakfast were dire. Car parking cost £15 per day, which was annoying, but at least I got a space – which was limited.

“Beautiful situation, very poor service.”

The central spot and the view of the Cathedral were nice, and the beds were made properly, so it stayed quiet. The staff seemed untrained for the role, and the corridors and rooms needed vacuuming, cleaning and dusting.
