The room was clean, the water was hot, and you could eat sweets. The air‑conditioning wouldn’t turn off.

The location was good. The room shown in the photos was much larger than the one we received; the photos set unrealistic expectations. We told reception that the issue wasn’t just the room size but that the photos didn’t reflect reality. They said the rooms are like that and couldn’t do anything if we were dissatisfied. We stayed because it was late and searching for another hotel made no sense. Honestly, if we’d known the room’s true size beforehand, we might have chosen elsewhere. Future guests should be cautious with Booking photos and confirm the room details directly with the hotel before booking.

The hotel is incredibly cheap, especially considering the rooftop location right in the middle of Shanghai. The location is great, just over the metro (the metro doesn’t disturb the hotel). The staff are sweet, helpful, and ready with Google Translate. Rooms are 8/10 clean upon arrival (vacuuming was missing at the bed edges). Hot water runs well, pressure is good, and the shower head is new. The air‑conditioner works brilliantly and is easily adjustable. You can get free bottled water at the hotel. Many people would appreciate that. What we found lacking and made the experience less pleasant: the rooms weren’t cleaned or had bedding changed the whole week we were there. There were no proper towels—only disposable ones. With staff help, we received towels after 30 minutes for a fee: 50 kr for two towels including shipping. The room was about 5 m² with a one‑and‑a‑half‑person bunk bed, a desk underneath, and two chairs. The bathroom had a shower and toilet in one. The floor never dried after a shower; there was a flat stool you could put on the floor. There was no window in our room. The walls had no sound insulation; people were noisy at night, and we could hear a neighbor’s phone through the wall. The bed was very hard and thus bad to sleep on. We had one one‑and‑a‑half‑person duvet, asked for an extra, and it arrived without a cover.

A decent price if you just need a bed, but the room feels cramped.
