“Convenient location, reasonably priced, but could be improved”
(Location) Location was excellent, in the old town area, walkable to the Faro Marina, local bus terminal and long distance bus stops. (Security) Guests don't have keys to enter the hostel, for security reasons, so guests should ring the front door bell so that hostel staff (available 24/7) can open the door. (Kitchen) Common kitchen is sizeable and labels are available to label your own food. (Common areas) Available to hang out, chill, eat. There is even a terrace for hanging laundry. (Staff) Extremely helpful and friendly, and have good music taste. (Towels) Available but paid (with deposit repaid on return). (Check-in) Smooth, but requires EUR 10 CASH deposit, repaid on check-out. (Quiet hours) The hostel is not a party hostel and enforces quiet hours, so that other guests are not disturbed. Stayed in the top bunk of a 12 bed dorm for two nights. (Top Bunk) The bottom bunk is much more preferable to the top bunk because: (1) privacy: the top bunk curtain does not extend to the ceiling (unlike for the bottom bunk, where the curtain is attached to the bottom-side of the top bunk such that the curtain fully closes the bottom bunk. This means there is not much privacy for the top bunk (and the bunk is visible from another top bunk bed); (2) light: in the same vein as (1) above, because the curtain for the top bunk does not extend to the ceiling, light from the room or the outside is visible and can affect sleep; (3) noise: every movement at the top bunk makes the bed squeak, even if you are just climbing up the bed or turning in bed, so the noise is very noticeable; (4) position of electric plug for the top bunk: very high so requires a long cable so that the phone can be placed in the phone holder. See photo. You are paying the same price for either top or bottom bunk and it is not possible to change beds once you have been allocated one, so you are significantly disadvantaged if you are allocated a top bunk. (Hygiene) While toilets have hand soap dispensers, they are empty (i.e. hand soap is not available, even in the toilets). It is understandable if guests are expected to bring their own (or buy) body soap or shampoo, but hand soap for the toilets should be provided for hygiene reasons
The location is perfect.
This isn’t a hotel—it’s a youth hostel. The humidity is enormous and the smell of dampness is very strong.
The building is nice, well‑located and clean, but we had a very unpleasant night with excessive noise from outside and even from the hotel itself. There was no air conditioning, only two loud fans, which left us very disappointed.
“I will be definitely back soon”
The vibes are great, yet the staff is very friendly.
