“⭐️⭐️ 2/5 – The tent was good, but the property needs serious attention”
The tent was clean. ⭐️⭐️ **2/5 – The tent was good, but the property needs serious attention** We stayed at the **Hideout River View Tent at Magalies River Retreat** for a weekend. Unfortunately, while the tent itself was clean, neat and comfortable, the overall experience was disappointing because of the condition of the property, shared facilities and lack of communication. The gravel road is very rocky, especially around the entrance. On arrival, communication with the person who greeted us was difficult due to a significant language barrier. Before our stay, I specifically confirmed with the owner that **5L of drinking water would be provided**. Instead, we were shown a tap and told that this was the drinking water. No information was given about the source or treatment of the water, which was not what we had been told beforehand. The **shared ablutions were not well maintained**. The women's bathroom has a large window that provides very little privacy at night, and the shower had poor water pressure. On the men's side, there was nowhere convenient to put clothing or towels while showering. There is only one shower per gender for 4+ tents, which is not ideal when the property is busy. Noise was another issue. On the first evening, we complained about a neighbouring guest's music and noise at **17:52**, but received no response. At approximately **21:00**, I sent a voice note documenting the noise, and only then did we receive a response. The noise eventually reduced around **21:30**. The following evening, another neighbour played music. Although it wasn't excessively loud, it was still clearly audible from our tent and took away from the peaceful nature experience we were expecting. The **general condition of the property was also disappointing**. There was long grass, sheep droppings around the property, an untidy firewood area around the geyser, and a general lack of cleanliness and maintenance.
