“Accueil charmant !”
Shila and another woman, whose name I unfortunately forgot, gave a charming welcome. The room was clean and overlooked rice paddies and tomato fields. The shower, sink, and toilet were in the room, but the hot shower was in a communal terrace bathroom—no problem in spring or summer. The shared kitchen is ready for cooking, and there are two lovely rooftop terraces. Shila also cooks on request and recommended the Neware restaurant in the old town, which was an absolute delight in a typical setting—one of the best dishes I’ve tasted in Nepal! (If you’re sensitive about knees, avoid sitting on the floor and low tables). The location in Panauti is excellent: 6 minutes from the bus parking and 10‑12 minutes from the beautiful historic center. The hotel is 9.5 km from the Namo Buddha stupa, the adjacent monastery, and the “point of view”—a nice walk, though the last 35 minutes climb steeply. The place truly deserves it! You can go and return by rickshaw.
