The Hotel Morandi, Sanremo, is set in landscaped gardens, a 5-minute walk from the seafront promenade. Spacious rooms offer free WiFi and air conditioning, with TVs and private bathrooms. Some rooms feature garden or Ligurian Sea views, and balconies. The hotel's Art-Nouveau building dates back to 1894, and is 15 minutes' walk from the Casino di Sanremo.

A small place, but since I’m used to staying in more luxurious hotels, I can’t give it the full 8.5 I’d like; the staff are incredibly warm and always ready with advice. The lounges are very pretty, though the rooms feel a bit dated and the bathrooms are tiny, yet there’s enough space in the modern wardrobes to store clothes. The beds are comfortable, the parking is super handy, and breakfast is varied and plentiful. The hotel isn’t new, so the bathrooms can’t be expanded and the elevator only holds a few people with luggage, though it works fine. If anything needs improvement, it’s the hallway carpet – it doesn’t look great even though I’m sure it’s clean.
