“Room for improvement”
Delightfully decorated château in the middle of Parthenay. We had a big suite where the owners put much attention in all the details. Comfortable bed and a big bathroom. Quiet place though being in the middle of town. Nice garden and private spa. We were welcomed with apple juice and cookies. Dinner and breakfast where very good. No breakfast buffet but a la carte. Friendly owners. There's room for improvement: we specifically booked this accomodation because in the description it said there was a charger for electric cars, but there wasn't. We had to charge at a public parking at a 10 mins walk. The owner said she would look into it. I also think a check-in time of 17.00 hrs is too late. Since it's a very nice place you want to enjoy it. We asked to check in between 16.00 and 17.00 hrs, but that was refused: not earlier than 17.00 hrs. In the bathroom is a so called dry toilet: It doesn't flush with water but you use something which is best described as cat litter made of paper and wood. Definitely not our thing. There's a wet toilet in the corridor. One word about the private spa: you pay 30 euros for about 75 mins. Very nice ambience, great jacuzzi, but an electric sauna, which only reaches 60 degrees Centigrade and takes ages to get to that temperature. No steambath. Imho is 30 euros too much. I've had better for less. Not the owners fault but in front of the chateau is a big parking lot, which doesn't contribute to the sophisticated ambience of this place
