I stayed at a manor with a garden right by the lake and the breakfast was good. The restaurant, however, felt like a throwback to the 80s with a dull kitchen that was both old-fashioned and overpriced, which left me disappointed.

The location was great and the place had a lot of character. My room, however, was tiny for the price; it cost 1326 kr per night and only had one chair, and while it was generally clean, it needed a deep clean—there was brown dried liquid on the bathroom door and a lot of dust on all the trim.

The extra bed was a joke. It was a super thin mattress that made the bed rock-hard and it even squeaked. My 13‑year‑old son is about my size, so I had to offer to take the extra bed myself. If I’d known, we’d have chosen a different place or booked two rooms.
