The location and room were fine. The room was very small, the bed felt springy, the quilt looked grubby, and the shower needed an update. The full English breakfast wasn’t hot, and we were just told what we wanted instead of being offered a menu. Only three couples and two single males were staying, so the place wasn’t full and we expected a bit more.

The bed was comfy, the room had a fridge, and the staff were friendly. However, the hotel felt very tired, and there were too many stairs to the rooms, making it unsuitable for people with mobility problems.

The staff were friendly and eager to help. It felt more like a halfway house: the TVs didn’t work off the aerial in the bedroom, towels were torn, the water was scalding in both the shower and the sink, the walls were dirty, and although the beds looked clean my mom developed a rash all over her face. The carpets were also dirty.

Breakfast was good. The bar had a lot of stairs, didn’t open until 3:30, and on Saturday evening closed before 9 pm. Parking on site was very limited, and there was loud music on Friday night.

The staff were very friendly, and the room was comfortable and met our needs for a single night. Breakfast was a great addition with plenty of choice, and nothing was too much trouble.
