Finally an old well‑maintained hotel. Real old wooden floors, real old chrome brass fixtures, real marble tiles and sinks. Wonderful. No modern motel vibe with dried flowers and flavor enhancers. I liked it a lot. It was very clean.

The hotel scores with its superb location right next to a park and just a few steps from the old town, exuding the charm of bygone days and hinting at how magnificent it once was. Yet the effects of time are clearly visible, and a thorough refurbishment is urgently needed. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, and the breakfast buffet was a pleasant surprise: large, varied, fresh, appetizing, and beautifully presented. The bed was comfortable and plenty of towels were provided. However, our room felt small, dusty, and noticeably dated. The minibar was empty, and there was only a bathrobe hanging in the wardrobe, despite us being two people. The bathroom was especially disappointing: the floor was dirty, the fixtures were old and heavily worn, some tiles were damaged, and the grout was partly moldy. The antique wall-mounted hairdryer with rubber hose had almost no power and looked like a relic from another era. The shower gel from the dispenser smelled unpleasant and had a strangely clumpy consistency. We could not find any body lotion; when asked, we were told it was not part of the usual offering, which is surprising for a four‑star hotel. The nearby garage is a separate story: dark, dirty, rundown, with the vibe of a “lost place,” and could easily serve as a horror film set; we felt very uncomfortable there. Overall, the stay was acceptable for one night, mainly thanks to the great location, friendly staff, and excellent breakfast. Yet the nostalgic charm alone cannot offset the many shortcomings. The gap between stylish patina and lack of upkeep is huge. From our perspective, four stars do not fit this hotel, and the value for money is also disappointing. It’s a shame, because with a thorough renovation and more attention to detail, this place could truly become a gem again.

The hotel is good, but the bathtubs are just okay. Parking is limited, and the staff are courteous. It’s a worthwhile stop.

The location is truly very central, and the dinner—especially the excellent tartare—was great. There was no chausson in the room, and the breakfast price was too high.
