The old‑world charm, quiet surroundings, walkable city access, nearby restaurants and bars, comfortable bed, great hot shower, and the sitting room basking in afternoon sun were all highlights. I loved my stay, but remember there are stairs for access.

I’ve stayed here before and the location is still unbeatable, just a stone’s throw from great restaurants, and the old building itself is charming. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good, though I miss the personal touch now that self‑check‑in is the norm; parking is only available on the street.

The spot is convenient, but the spa was disappointingly small—more like half the size of a typical spa—and the parking was on the street. The price felt too high for what it offered; I couldn’t even lie down in the spa because my legs would hang off the edge.

The building is stunning, full of historic details such as the chandelier and ceiling moulding in our room, and the furnishings are thoughtful, especially in the front lounge and tea rooms. The North Hobart location is ideal, close to the CBD yet not in a soulless business zone. We only wished for a larger bin in our room; otherwise, everything was fine.
