“OK on the whole but definite room for improvements with general maintenance.”
I had mixed feelings about this place. On the plus side, the location is great for being near the central plaza and within walking distance of pretty much everything, while being far enough away from Gringolandia to avoid the late‑night party scene. The kitchen was well equipped and the upstairs terrace was a great spot to hang out, eat, and meet people. Our room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. The staff were pleasant enough. On the downside, the shared bathroom had a leaking pipe from the toilet that was constant, to the point where water leaked into the hallway one morning, and despite me asking four times for someone to fix it, I ended up finding a towel and a bucket to handle it myself and had to empty it each day. We stayed for 10 nights while attending Spanish school, and during that time our room wasn’t cleaned or the bins emptied once, so we did that ourselves too. Halfway through we realized we had to keep the window open constantly or mould would start to grow on the back wall. Overall it was a pleasant stay, but there were certainly areas where the hostel staff could have improved comfort. I probably wouldn’t stay again, but it did the job for our time in San Pedro.
