“Breathtaking hotel, disappointing beach.”
The room was pleasant, the hotel offered breathtaking views, and the staff were lovely. Local massage spots in town cost only a sixth of the hotel’s price. The sea near the hotel is next to a large harbor with artificial breakwaters, making the water cloudy with a visibility of about 2 m. If I return to Miyako, I’d stay on the southern side for better sea. Breakfast was busy, so on the second and third days we had later breakfasts after a morning swim; by 9–10 am the jams and pastries ran out. The staff would refill them if asked, but I didn’t feel it was my job to request refills. The food itself was good, though. There were only a few beds around the pools and fewer umbrellas for shade, which is odd given the hotel’s size.
