Hotel Fernblick in Bad Harzburg features free parking and a serene garden, a 10-minute walk from the town centre, Sole Therme baths, and the Burgberg cable car. Non-smoking rooms include cable TV, telephone, private bathroom with bathrobes and hairdryer. A daily breakfast is served in the breakfast room, which also offers a fridge and plates for guest use, with nearby restaurants within walking distance.

The staff were friendly and the location was excellent, but the whole building smelled musty. Mold and dirt were present in the room, and on the second night I was moved to a different room where the mattresses were sagging, the windows couldn't be opened, and the TV was broken. There was a hole about 10 × 10 cm in the bathroom that let in a lot of water. Overall, I would not recommend this place.

The staff were very nice, the price was good and the breakfast was decent, but the TV didn't work.

The location of "HOTEL" is convenient, but the beds are only suitable for young, athletic people. The breakfast is extremely sparse and portions are counted per person.

The location of the property is optimal, yet the cleanliness inside and on the premises suggests massive neglect. In the bathroom, the shower grout was heavily sealed, the broken shower enclosure (one side of the door missing) was replaced with a curtain, there was dirt behind and on the toilet, hair in the sink, and the towels were "brittle". In the room, the carpet was heavily soiled and very spotted, the window was dirty, and the curtain was in a collapsed state almost black. The breakfast: it was Sunday after a holiday. Fresh rolls were absent, only re‑baked rolls that had likely been baked more than 1–2 hours earlier, there were no spoons for eggs, yogurt (only one portion left) and/or coffee, jam and honey in single packs (which was fine given the house cleanliness), and the egg cup was sticky. The breakfast room: windows and curtains were extremely dirty, after the used dishes of other guests were cleared from the tables the staff left crumbs on the tables. On the property: before the front door, which was also dirty (the doorknob felt somewhat "sticky") there was a very full ashtray that had not been emptied for a long time, the grounds were untidy, dirty with almost decaying sheds and parked vehicles, the stairwell was partially broken. Payment was only possible in cash. I was not handed a bill or receipt!

Close to the center, a short walk to the mountain, we were allowed to leave our backpack in the hotel for a while because we wanted to go hiking before departure. The beds creaked a lot, there were strange brown stains on the bathroom door that wouldn't wash off. The room had no hair dryer; I was given one at the reception in the morning. Breakfast started at 8, but by 9 there was almost nothing, just a few rolls and a little cheese, coffee, juice. They made a couple of eggs on request, but I had to wait. The wardrobe door in the room also worked poorly.
