Located in a 16th-century building in the heart of Bergen, Det Hanseatiske Hotel is situated next door to the Hanseatic Museum. This historic hotel features rustic-style rooms with dark, velvety colours and patterns, adorned with centuries-old timber walls, wooden furniture, and leather sofas. Most rooms include bathtubs and separate showers, along with free internet access. It's part of the UNESCO World Heritage Bryggen district, near the Fløibanen Funicular.

The spot was fantastic. Our bed felt very comfortable and the shower was perfect; we also had a bath, which was truly delightful. The gentleman at reception helped us with several questions about transport options and was very friendly. We were allowed to leave our luggage for free after check‑out, and when we came back we could relax in the lounge for a while.

The location and surroundings, both indoors and outdoors, were great, but the bed was hard and the bathroom cleanliness was a bit poor.

Breakfast was plentiful and well prepared. The hotel’s position is ideal in the city centre, and all the city highlights are very close or within walking distance. Even though we were in the quiet 4th floor, the location in the centre was still nice. Not all rooms on the 4th floor are reachable by lift; heavy luggage has to be carried up two relatively steep flights of stairs, but that is due to the cosy design of the old Hanseatic houses. It fits, and it’s actually not annoying; this is just for information.
