“Nicht nochmal in diese Unterkunft”

For nature lovers the location was great, right on the rainforest, yet it felt very “rustic,” unsuitable for sensitive guests, unsanitary, and more like a camp; the wooden box with corrugated roof and mosquito netting around it was as beautiful as the surroundings, but I couldn’t enjoy it—this was the 17th time in Costa Rica, and I’d never seen such accommodation, even in the deepest rainforest.

“Un séjour agréable”

Nature surrounded us, which was truly amazing; Luis was great, and the kitchen was very convenient, but it was far from everything—we had to walk 3.8 km with our backpacks to the market because no one could give us a lift.

“Better than tent camping!”

If you’re into camping, this setup won’t surprise you at all. Cooking was a breeze, and there was a nice covered spot with hammocks where the Wi‑Fi worked. Luis and Julia were very welcoming; Luis is a quirky character with an intriguing background and he’s also a skilled stone and wood carver. I’d recommend bringing cash to try to buy one of his carvings. We did wish we’d brought a bit more. The only downside was finding a bat in the bathroom—it looked nothing like the profile picture on the site.

“Einfach aber ideal für Touren.”

Very good overall, but it’s really simple—nothing for the faint‑hearted! It felt like being in the jungle. Our hosts were friendly and we felt comfortable. The tour with Luis was tiring but satisfying. 👍🥵 Good English communication. There were some animals in the garden: monkeys, toucans, frogs 🐸, snakes 🐍, etc. The shower was basic, no hot water (though it works), and a shower head would be nice. 😁
