The location and car parking were great, staff were very friendly, and breakfast was okay—though the selection was poor, they did offer an English breakfast and it was the first hotel that had marmite, which I love. The room was very small, just a place to sleep. The bathroom was cleaned and renovated, but it still feels old; the shower is modern, yet the toilet and sink are old‑style and give a negative vibe.

The dining room staff were excellent and the food was first‑class, and the room itself was very good. Checking in was a nightmare: no receptionist, a sign said check in at the bar, but the bar was closed when I arrived early. I had to keep coming back at check‑in time, still no one at reception or the bar. When I tried to leave the room key that day, there was nowhere to drop it because the bar was closed and no one was around; eventually someone put my key in a drawer in the kitchen.
