The welcome was great and the location is beautiful. Breakfast was excellent with local products, but the room lacked proper isolation.

The view was breathtaking. We were lucky to arrive in the rain and wake up with a Monte Rosa view. Dinner was served at a high‑quality, high‑price level. The Belle Epoque tradition hotel breathes history, with small rooms furnished with old furniture, wall and ceiling paintings, yet a modern bathroom is installed. The outdoor air‑conditioning units are cleverly hidden in the window recesses, while the exterior façade remains “unadorned.” A very slow elevator assists with luggage. Four parking spaces are in the garden in front of the hotel and one is outside. It’s close to the funicular—just a 2‑minute walk. The road to Brunate is steep, narrow, and winding: only for experienced mountain hikers! The hotel was built in 1896 to provide guests of the funicular with a hotel and restaurant. The adventure of this hotel has its price, but we love the charm of this historic accommodation. In the restaurant near the kitchen door, cold air always escapes from the kitchen whenever the staff come in and out—sometimes the door stays open. It isn’t self‑closing like a swing door, but it’s historic.

The staff were extremely helpful and courteous, and the lunch/dinner facilities are excellent—highly recommend the steak. The room’s location is brilliant.
