The reservation was canceled on the day we arrived because of overbooking—a situation I never expected at a lodging. The hotel’s phone lines never picked up, leaving us standing outside clueless. Booking’s support team stepped in quickly and found us a much better place: 6th land.

The spot is spot-on for anyone heading to Cinque Terre, just under 5 minutes from the train station and close to La Spezia’s bustling core where you can hit up restaurants and shops. The room was clean, had an elevator, and though it wasn’t huge, it was cozy. The AC was a bit noisy and the window could have been better insulated.

The room was roomy for two, with a very comfy bed and pretty clean facilities at the start. It’s also just a 5‑minute walk from the station and right next to the main street. However, for a 4‑night stay with two people we only got three tiny soap sachets, and no cleaning or restocking of basics like soap, towels, or toilet paper happened at all. Towels ended up smelling bad after daily use, especially annoying in a beachy summer setting. Mid‑stay we ran out of soap and toilet paper, so we had to buy gel and use Kleenex for the bathroom. The street felt unsafe at times, and the building’s old vibe made us uneasy; we didn’t realize it was a shared building with multiple independently managed rooms, which could be uncomfortable if you’re unaware. Some guests didn’t close the main door properly, adding to the insecurity. The toilet cistern jammed often when pressing the flush button and was hard to reset. The bathroom mirror was too high for some, and hangers fell off easily when putting up towels. Also remember the tourist tax must be paid in cash at the end of your stay.

The location was perfect, but the owner’s communication was awful. Several things were broken and never fixed; she didn’t respond to messages, which was very unprofessional.
