The place is great, the team is attentive (special thanks to Nkateko), and the services are high quality: accommodation, meals, massages, and especially the safaris. The shower head and kettle need special lime cleaning.

“Preis/Leistung stimmt hier überhaupt nicht!”

The staff were very friendly and the location right at Orpen Gate was convenient. However, we were told immediately upon arrival that the Wi‑Fi in the lodge didn’t work, which was frustrating because I needed it for work and the issue never got resolved. The safe in the lodge didn’t work either; we reported it on the first day but it wasn’t fixed until two days later, apparently just a battery change. The bed in the lodge was very short – for anyone taller than 1.75 m it’s definitely too short and the legs stick out. There was no separation between the sleeping area and the toilet/bathroom, not even a curtain, which felt very uncomfortable and annoying. For dinner you have to set a fixed time between 18:30 and 21:00 in the morning; you can’t just drop by in the evening. The food was always lukewarm, the dessert seemed like a convenience product rather than homemade, and the breakfast selection was very limited. Overall the dining area felt sparse and impersonal, no music, and the chairs were too low for the tables. During the Manyeleti safari, we were offered snacks (nuts, chips, etc.) at a stop, but the driver had just urinated in the bushes and then used the same containers, which I found extremely unhygienic. For the high price we expected something else, and the staff were not understanding. I would not book here again.

“Nothing but the best”

Everything. The best resort I’ve stayed in South Africa, and possibly all my travels. Orpen Kruger Lodge is a very special place, staffed by a team that went all out to make my stay special. Riri made many exceptional arrangements for my wife and me – including an afternoon game drive on our first day even though we arrived 10 min after the drive had set off, and an extra game drive on our final day. Veronica is an exceptionally friendly host that made us feel exceptionally welcome. And Louis and Look are exceptional game drive guides with the keenest eyesight, helping us spot all the big 5 in a single drive in Kruger. The property is also very clean and comfortable, and the food is remarkable. You get the most magical sunset at the pool. The best part? It’s unbelievably reasonably priced for the quality you get. And all the extras, like drinks and massages, are fairly priced too. (The African massage we got was also excellent!) This was the highlight of our trip!

Prachtige lodge aan de ingang van Orpen Gate van Kruger Park. Fantastische host, zeer mooie kamer en prima en uitgebreid ontbijt. Absolute aanrader voor een bezoek van het Kruger Park. Niets
