The breakfast was excellent—fresh and hot—but the sausage didn't meet my expectations in terms of quality. Louis was naturally helpful, engaging, genuine, and funny. However, there was a strong odor of feet on the settee or cushions in lodge 5, which was unpleasant.

I really enjoyed the lodge, and when my son requested a move inside the hotel, they handled it with great flexibility. The lodge units were close to the bar, restaurant, and pool, which made it convenient if you wanted to use those facilities.

The view from the restaurant was the only nice thing about the holiday. Breakfast was served on a cold plate, and we had to queue to make our own toast. The shower cubicle was too small with nowhere to hang toiletries; there were no hooks on the doors to hold coats, only six coat hangers for the two of us, no drawers for underwear, and overall bad design. The pillows felt like sleeping on a brick, so we bought two pillows for the rest of the stay. There was no room service, we had to empty our own bin, ask for clean towels, and tea and coffee were not replenished—only enough for one day, so we went the rest of the week without an early morning drink. Entertainment was only for one night. All in all, a very disappointing six‑day stay.

The surroundings were lovely, but the room could have been more homely and cleaner.

The location was beautiful, the lodge was clean and a good size, and the bars and restaurants were great.
