“supplemento per il cane: ma per quale servizio, esattamente?”
The room was nice, but charging 20 € for a 4‑kg dog is utterly unjustifiable. We stayed at the Hotel Touring in Predazzo for one night in October, during low season when the lifts were still closed. The room was very cozy and pleasant. The real issue was the completely transparent bathroom door that offers no privacy; sitting on the bed you can see someone on the toilet. That’s inappropriate, even when sharing the room with someone you trust. What upset me most was the 20 € extra for a single night for a 4‑kg dog, on top of the 106 € already paid for the room plus the tourist tax. I find that amount completely disproportionate and entirely unjustified given the service received. For those 20 € nothing was provided—no bowl for the dog, no simple water bowl. The listing even says bowls and pet baskets are available, but none were in the room and no one informed us about availability on request. I question what concrete reason justifies such a surcharge. The final cleaning? If that’s the reason, I’d like to remind that even guests without pets can dirty a room, a bathroom, or leave hair in the shower. I don’t see why a 4‑kg dog should automatically incur such a high extra cost without any additional service or extraordinary cleaning. I do not contest the right of a hotel to charge for pets. I challenge the proportion of the fee, the lack of clarity about the amount in the terms consulted, and the total absence of any service that could at least partially justify it. Another negative note concerns breakfast. As a vegan, I found myself able to eat only a slice of bread with jam. No obvious vegan options like plant‑based yogurt, suitable croissants, or a more complete alternative. I didn’t communicate my diet in advance, but I think today a hotel should at least offer some simple plant options. In conclusion, a pleasant room does not compensate for a disappointing value‑for‑money. The dog surcharge, in particular, felt more like an imposed cost than a fee for a real service. From a hotel charging 126 € for a night, excluding tourist tax, I would have expected much more attention. I must admit that, given how the 20 € pet surcharge was handled, I felt almost scammed. It’s not so much the 20 € itself, but the principle: I paid a significant premium without receiving any additional service, not even a water bowl. I wonder what the real justification for this amount is, especially considering that normal room cleaning is already part of the hotel service.
