We were kept waiting for hours at check‑in and couldn’t even enter the building – a terrible experience.

We were greeted politely and appropriately when we arrived at 8:30 am, and were told we could leave our luggage while the room would be ready after 2:00 pm. That turned out not to be true later in the day, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. We had paid for a room months in advance, but when we checked in to collect our keys someone else was already using the room, so we had no room at all. We waited until 9:00 pm, but still no room. I spoke with the manager on the phone, who offered a full refund and we had to leave. The desk clerk was not sympathetic, was very argumentative, and at times swore at us in Spanish, which influenced our decision to leave. Overall, it started out fine in the morning, but the late afternoon and evening were a horrible experience. We left the hotel and took a taxi to the airport.
