“For an overnight arrival, resting your head on clean bed linen is perfectly adequate.”
The room was tidy, and the air conditioning could double as a heater; the site sits very close to the Romanian border and the Iron Gates, making it ideal for a one‑night visit. A small shop next to the accommodation closes at 8:00 PM, and a restaurant in town is 7 km away. Towels and toiletries were supplied for the room and shared bathroom, and the shared kitchen had cleaning supplies plus a microwave and electric kettle. From our window we could see the Danube. The bathroom was small—though I should have seen that in the photos—but it was fine for a single night. In Serbia smoking is allowed in common areas, so the living room, kitchen, and hallway leading to the unit carried a strong cigarette smell, and the kitchen wasn’t spotless, so I had to wash the items I wanted to use beforehand.
