“Disappointing Stay – Certainly Not the Boutique Experience Advertised”
We booked a Garden View room at Russells on the Port, but the view turned out to be the car park with a single pot plant outside the window, which was misleading and not what we expected. We were offered another room that looked over the harbour, which was better, but it was directly above a busy restaurant and there was constant noise and the smell of fish and cooking oil. Even though the hotel was almost empty during our stay, we were told we would have to pay extra to change rooms, which made us question the hospitality. Housekeeping was disappointing: we had to ask for new towels because the ones we received were marked, and the hotel only provided single‑ply toilet paper, which felt out of place for a boutique hotel. Breakfast was not included in the already expensive room rate, so at that price we expected breakfast or at least a better overall value. The overall experience didn't justify the cost, and we felt the boutique label was a stretch. The location is convenient, but that alone couldn't make up for the poor accommodation and lack of customer care. We won't stay here again.
