“A Beautiful Location for Stargazing and Relaxation”

The Montimero Skyscape Countryhouse sits on the shore of Alqueva Reservoir and is a great base for trips to Monsaraz, Alqueva beaches, the Observatory or Esporão Winery. We stayed in a Superior room with a private plunge pool on the terrace, a spacious room with two cozy sofas, and a very large bathroom. We liked that the air‑conditioning was mounted above the front door instead of directly over the bed, so we didn’t feel a draft while sleeping. The hotel pool is a popular photo spot with plenty of loungers for guests, and the large grounds invite walks; bicycles can be borrowed for those who find walking too tiring. The lounge was hardly used because it was high summer, but I can imagine it would be very cozy in winter by the fireplace. We also appreciated the Honesty Bar and its nice recipe book where staff and guests have recorded cocktail recipes; a bit of ice would have helped, but the G&T still tasted good. The reception staff were very friendly, gave great restaurant tips, and handled our reservations. The room, although Superior, did not have a lake view, which should be noted on Booking to avoid surprises. Dinner must be pre‑ordered, which is understandable for sustainability reasons but leaves little room for spontaneity. Breakfast is not very extensive, but that’s normal in Portugal, I think.

The space is quite pretty and well decorated, in a calm and quiet area. The breakfast is disappointing, with stock not being restocked and very little variety, far below what one would expect from a hotel of this level. The electrical charging infrastructure is also insufficient; we were told there would be household outlets, but the whole hotel was at 100% charge for over 40 hours. We came by electric car and didn’t anticipate this issue.

“Grossartige Unterkunft in einmaliger Umgebung”

Great, very personal accommodation. Fantastic location. Incredible view of Alqueva Lake. Stylish furnishings, great design. Lots of space. Quiet. Lovely walks along the lake, only 5 minutes from the hotel. Beautiful infinity pool. Good food. Very friendly, accommodating staff. A place to return to. Espresso in the Honesty‑Bar costs 2.50 euros, which is too expensive.

The location, the pool, the room. The restaurant was occasionally closed. All activities (jacuzzi) are extra and not included in the initially paid package, which is already quite valuable.
