“Excellent pub/restaurant with guest rooms needing a makeover”

The Golden Lion is an excellent country pub with top notch evening food, and a similarly high quality inclusive breakfast. The welcome is warm and friendly. An ideal location for anyone needing an M6/M1 stopover in the Rugby area and just down the road from Brinklow where there is a local shop. The guest rooms are a little tired and lack the character of the pub itself. A makeover could turn this into a really terrific pub/hotel option. Noise can be heard from adjoining rooms

The period building was charming, the area was quiet, and it was pet‑friendly and close to the spots we needed in Rugby. The staff were very good and considerate, and everything worked out fine for our short stay.

The reception and service were very pleasant, always with a smile. We took advantage of the special offer that included breakfast (B&Bs these days are usually just Bs, no B for breakfast). The hotel’s restaurant offers a solid menu and the food is high quality. The atmosphere is cosy, and we really enjoyed our stay at the Golden Lion and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Breakfast had a good selection, and the cooked breakfast was tasty. No complaints.
