It’s a very peaceful spot where you can connect with nature. Even though there’s a pool, you can swim in the natural bay, paddle in kayaks to explore the area, and especially the accommodations and staff are amazing.

Wonderful accommodation on the Río Dulce. We felt very welcome. The food was good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely come back any time.

This was probably the nicest stay of our Guatemala trip. Maya and Dino make you feel welcome from the second you arrive. They are ready to help you with all your wishes and requests regarding accommodation, meals and bookings for boat and shuttle. The accommodation itself is super modern, and furnished with all the attention to detail that makes the stay feel comfortable. The shade of the surrounding trees and the open design of the houses also regulate the heat really well, so you can sleep comfortably at night despite the hot weather. The cold pool and the spacious mosquito net are worth an additional mention, as well as the calm and lovely old dog, that still does a great job at keeping any unwanted animal visitors away, while you will of course encounter some bugs and cockroaches, as you are in the jungle. The satellite WiFi was much faster than anything you would find in the cities, and the food was actually outstanding, where I need to particularly mention the homemade sourdough bread. We could also borrow a kayak for free to go see the sunset from the water. On our second day we went on a boat tour with Dino, where we went to see as much of Livingston as we wanted, the beautiful canyon along the river, and a hiked through the jungle to swim next to a hidden waterfall. I can highly recommend it, as this was the best way to explore the area. Don't forget to put on mosquito repellent before dusk, due to the location.

Our stay at Buena Vista Bay Resort was nothing short of extraordinary — honestly, a 15 out of 10 experience. The place itself is absolutely idyllic, the kind of peaceful, beautiful setting you almost don’t want to tell others about so it stays a hidden gem. Every detail of the resort reflects care, taste, and a genuine love for hospitality. What truly made our stay unforgettable, though, were the hosts, Dino and Maja. They are simply wonderful people — warm, attentive, and incredibly genuine. From the moment we arrived, we felt not like guests, but like friends. And a special mention has to go to Maja’s cooking — absolutely outstanding. Every meal was a highlight and added so much to the overall experience. We left with full hearts and can’t recommend this place highly enough. We’re sure we’ll come back — or meet somewhere else in the world :)

Sleeping in those cabins is magical, with the sound of rain and birds, and the food and host attention are incredible.
