Il Poggiolo

We spent ten days in Poggiolio with our two kids and found that the house could be booked weekly, not just nightly. The place is generous, offering two large bathrooms, air‑conditioning, window shutters, and TVs even in the bedrooms. The terrace is shaded and there’s an outdoor cooler. The pool is a dream! The hosts are very friendly and helpful; the host even gave us garden produce and Limoncello as a special treat and shared trip suggestions. In the garden you can hear cicadas, making it very idyllic. All in all, we had an unforgettable time in Poggiolo.

We spent a wonderful stay with our two daughters and would book the house again anytime. The absolute highlight was the large pool with a fridge right by the pool/grill area. The house was spotless and the huge garden was beautifully laid out and well kept. We especially want to mention host Maria, who was incredibly warm and attentive. As a surprise she brought us homemade Tuscan‑style ravioli on the spot, and we received a generous welcome pack with tasty pasta, preserves, homemade Limoncello, and more. The house sits on a road where horns occasionally blare before turns; as other guests have noted, you get used to it quickly, and we even found some of the bus horns amusing.

We had a great week at Il Poggiolo and really enjoyed the big pool. Maria is a wonderful host who welcomed us with homemade Limoncello. The property is large and fully fenced – perfect for dogs. The house, kitchen, bathrooms, and grill are well equipped and lack nothing. A wonderful restaurant, Ristorante Bernadone, is a 15‑minute walk away; otherwise a car is needed (there are hardly any sidewalks). The location isn’t ideal: it’s close to a road, on a curve, with frequent horns and occasional noise. On the property, next to the parking, there’s a small enclosure for three tortoises. I’m not sure who owns them, but they’re not well cared for and the animals don’t look happy. It would be nice if future guests took better care of the animals. Despite these points, we felt very comfortable and thank Maria warmly.

We were warmly received upon arrival. The setting was quiet and a perfect place for a beautiful family holiday. The pool was great and we used it daily.
