“No me percaté de que estaba en altura”
The scenery and location in San Blas are beautiful, but there is no car access, you have to walk uphill, and I wouldn’t recommend it for people carrying 23 kg.

We were welcomed warmly upon arrival, my back was stuck and they offered us a different room without stairs; the breakfast room was lovely and the food was excellent; overall the rooms were beautifully finished and the view of the city was magnificent – we can’t understand the negative comments we’d read.

The service was outstanding; the staff were eager and attentive, though the view makes up for the location.

The accommodation was well‑situated, just 10 minutes from the central square, and having two floors was a big plus; hot water was fine, breakfast was very good with plenty of variety, and the staff were very friendly. However, the hotel’s front door was locked and we had to ring for someone to answer, and for the first two days no one came, leaving us outside for almost an hour; after we mentioned it, that didn’t happen again.

I had stayed there before, so I chose it again, but it used to be called “la morada suites.” The rebranding brought some sad changes. The beds were covered in a very ugly, dark, waterproof material that felt like a parka, so we couldn’t just lie down. The bathroom had insufficient shampoo packets, the water sometimes didn’t work, and breakfast was much poorer with fewer items. The hotel meets the basics but no longer shines. The worst part was the staff member William, who had been told in advance to prepare a snack and open the door because we had to leave the hotel at 5:30 to catch a bus to the hydroelectric plant. When we reached the reception, there was no snack, no receptionist, and the door was locked. We shouted, searched for keys, asked for help, and got nothing. Luckily, I found an unlocked hotel phone on the desk and called the receptionist, who was at a party and hung up. I then called another receptionist, explained what happened, and she arrived around 6:10. I was supposed to return after my trip to Machu Picchu and expected an apology, a statement that William no longer worked there, a discount or explanation for the terrible delay, the wasted time, money (I missed the bus), everything, but to my surprise and disappointment none of that happened and William still works there without apologizing. As the cherry on top, a taxi was supposed to pick us up at the airport, but after more than half an hour looking at signs and searching for the driver, the taxi never showed up. Everything was bad.
