The staff were extremely helpful when I asked them to help me locate my passport. I had an issue where I needed to find the passport at a previous hotel in Tokyo, which was stressing me out. They immediately understood my problem and called the hotel to make inquiries on my behalf. In the end I recovered my passport and could enjoy my stay in Kyoto. I could have stayed longer, but I was only in town for one night. Check‑in was quick and easy, the staff understood my spoken English, and they were lovely to deal with.

It was a peaceful and restful retreat, still in the heart of Kyoto. The only criticism is that it doesn’t have spa facilities, but I knew this when booking, so it was absolutely fine!
