A fantastic welcome and especially a human welcome, with smiles and conversation—much better than a key box.

Sleeping at the arrival time was fine and picking up the keys was straightforward, but the place was dirty, moldy, and there were flies at breakfast; the coffee was cold and everything felt neglected. We had to help other guests who didn’t speak Portuguese, and the staff who didn’t speak another language just ignored them. There was no pool or massage service.

Breakfast was complete and the welcome was good. The location is ideal, just a stone’s throw from the historic citadel of Almeida.

The restaurant near the village was a plus, but the place stank, mosquitoes were everywhere, breakfast wasn’t actually breakfast, it was late, and the TV was tiny.
