The location was okay, but the road to the property was terrible—everything turned to mud in the rain and you could just toss your shoes and pants. We booked a week at the Dar Chennoufi, paid in advance, and had to cut our stay short after one night. We arrived at night, slept one night, had breakfast the next morning, but a longer stay was impossible. The mattress was extremely hard and uncomfortable, the bathtub was dirty so we didn’t want to shower, the toilet flush was broken and we had to use a bucket to flush, and the bedside lamp didn’t work. For the price and a week’s booking we expected a much better condition. We see urgent improvements needed, which we already reported.

The house is very beautiful and authentic, furnished with refinement, and its interior layout preserved the character and charm of the old houses of Kef. It sits amid olive fields and its garden smells of jasmine. The hot water is produced by solar panels and electricity by photovoltaic panels, which were appreciated. The value for money is average for the Kef region, even though maintaining such a property must cost something. Still, a minimum price drop of 15 euros per night would be appreciated and would noticeably improve the value.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, making me feel at home. I enjoyed beautiful meals cooked by the fire, and breakfast and dinner were great. It’s a calm spot out on some farmland, and staying in a guesthouse away from the tourist trail was a fun experience. The pool is no longer operable and looks nothing like the photos, and the accommodation was a bit more expensive compared to what I paid elsewhere in Tunisia.

Not much to say, it was very quiet. The owner offered to make a simple meal for us when everything in town was closed for Eid holidays. The food was mediocre, as was breakfast the next morning. The room AC didn’t work, so I had to convince the owner to change rooms. The owner and manager were absent, the local staff couldn’t communicate, the place wasn’t clean, the pool was closed, and the owner only communicated via WhatsApp and wouldn’t accept credit cards. The Dar is about 5 miles from El Kef.
