“Bad value for money; overpriced”
The location is nice, though a very small road makes access a bit tricky. A rating of 1 should not be given lightly, so here’s why: upon arrival the bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned and the shower only offered lukewarm water; the bed was a wooden plank with a thin mattress and the linens didn’t smell fresh; the night’s rest was frequently disturbed by a crowing rooster; the air‑conditioning often stopped working while wall outlets remained available; we were told to dine and breakfast at a small table in the hallway outside the room, not at the large table with scenic view, which was reserved for a group. This isn’t how a homestay should operate, especially when interacting with other guests—breakfast was below standard; the fruit platter was okay, but the “vegetarian curry” was a greyish soup that tasted bad. Because of this we left after one night instead of the booked three. Mr. Rajeev Thomas seemed only slightly interested in our comments and more focused on collecting his full payment for three nights; the initial friendliness vanished. On top of that he charged Rs 1000 per person for a mediocre dinner that would have cost less than half that amount in a mediocre restaurant, and one of us fell ill. In comparison: in Fort Kochi we stayed in a homestay for one third of the price per day with more friendly hosts and much better food; in Alleppey we moved to Sterling Lake Palace, which was 1.5 times more expensive but 10 times better.
