“Suited our needs to be centrally placed in Wisbech.”
The central location is great, with easy access to breakfast spots and evening eateries. The staff are really lovely and helpful. The shower is a good size and the water pressure is okay, though not outstanding. I initially worried the bed and pillows would be uncomfortable, but we had the best night’s sleep possible – how wrong I was! The basin plug didn’t work, the shaving light over the bathroom mirror was off, and another light in the recessed wardrobe area was also non‑functional. There was a strange smell in the room, though not strong enough to mention. I didn’t bring all of this up to management because it was such a cheap room‑only deal.
“In need of TLC”
The receptionist was helpful and gave us a place to store our bikes. Like most of Wisbech, the hotel needed some TLC and investment, which I imagine the owners would find hard to recoup. The room was superficially clean and did not show mould. However, lying on the bed triggered my asthma. Two things trigger this: a virus (which I didn’t have) and mould. I assume the old, uncomfortable bed had also been left in a damp, mouldy environment at some point.
“Great stay. Only wish breakfast was possible”
The staff were lovely, attentive, helpful, and seemed like genuinely nice people. We just didn't have enough pillows, but it was a late arrival on our part and I think if we had asked they would have arranged more.
“Would neve stay here again.”
Nothing positive. The customer service was extremely poor.
“Very sad to see.”
The receptionist was lovely . The hotel was desolate , musty and uncomfortable. The furnishings were dirty and the bedding was shabby. We booked for 3 nights but left after 1. It didn't feel safe, the market square outside was inhabited by numerous rowdy non english speaking men, when darkness fell. There were no eateries nearby. Very sad as I visited when I was a child when it was a vibrant market town
