“My first experience in a riad—an unforgettable place to stay.”
I was thrilled to be my first visitor to Marrakech and the first time staying in a riad. The owner, Maëté, who is French, listened to my concerns and requests and made me feel at ease. The staff—Hocine, Samia, and Batiha—were all very kind, and there’s a cute cat named Hiba that adds to the charm. The location is great; from the rooftop terrace you can see Jemaa el-Fnaa square and hear roosters crowing and the call to prayer in the mornings. Breakfast and mint tea were delicious, and I would definitely return if I come back to Marrakech. The room was a bit small and dim, and the sink drain didn’t work well. They didn’t have electric kettles to borrow, but they gladly gave me a pot of hot water or made me mint tea whenever I asked. Fruit at breakfast would have been nice, but overall I was happy with my stay.
