The host was generally quick to answer calls and flexible about my arrival time, and the bed was comfortable enough. However, roaches were present in the kitchen and bathroom. The host called me on short notice to change the payment type and was cagey about the private parking advertised until I showed her it was in the listing. The price was way too expensive for the state of disarray the property is in.

I didn’t stay. The outside was in poor condition

Carina is such a delightful woman! She was very sweet and accessible, and she let us know of all the wonderful vegan restaurants near us. The beds were so comfortable! We really felt at home.

The bed was comfy and the location was handy for the bus line on Black and Chislett. I arrived at the property at the time on the confirmation, only to find it dark, no lights, and mail strewn across the porch, making me feel unsafe as a single woman. A lady from across the street claimed to be the host and told me I was supposed to be at another property about three blocks away; I was relieved my ride hadn’t left yet. Still uneasy, I went to Chislett, entered with two sets of codes, and was hit with a strong pot aroma. The room I climbed into had a simple knob lock and the hallway had a few other rooms; I placed a chair under the door for safety. The smoke detector was removed from the wall, hairs were on the tub and floor, the sink was unwashed with toothpaste splatter everywhere, and the carpet was poor, with makeshift carpeting in some spots. The worst part was waking up to men on scaffolding outside my bathroom window; the window didn’t lock and part of the blind was broken. If I had $500 and a car, I’d have left, but I was stuck. During the day the area seemed fine, but the second night at 3:30 am I woke to five gunshots and sirens about two blocks away. The room was cluttered and not very clean, so I took many pictures to send to the booking company. The host was nice, but I won’t return.

The host was a superstar, the area was easily reachable by the excellent local bus network (and taxis), and it was a nice, safe area.
