The old building is charming, though the bar felt a bit chilly. Our room was cold when we arrived because the heating was off; the radiator wasn’t working, so we had to use an electric heater to warm it up.

The location is excellent, close to St Michael’s Mount and Penzance, and the room was pleasant. The food was good and the staff were friendly, especially after an incident outside the hotel. Some parts of the building’s structure could use maintenance, though this wasn’t obvious from the inside, and the proximity of the hoardings to the road made exiting onto a busy street risky.

The spot was great for exploring Cornwall, especially Penzance and St Michael’s Mount, and the breakfast and evening dining were excellent; however, until 11 pm you could hear voices and music from the room below, which is to be expected in an inn.

The place was lovely, the staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was superb with a huge, comfy bed, and both the evening meal and breakfast were really good.

The staff were lovely and the food very good, but service took nearly 1 hour. The pictures of the hotel must have been taken some time ago and didn’t represent what we found. The decor is very tired, the general presentation of the rooms and corridors dirty and the bathrooms from a different era with drafty windows and mouldy glass. We even had the pleasure of a peeling black leather cinema chair in our room. We booked a room with a large double bed and got a standard double. Our room looked out onto a field with a car scrapyard and dirty boat, at the rear a scrap metal yard. Not a great experience and definitely poor value for money
