“Despite some issues that could be addressed by management, we had a good time at Balcony Hotel.”
Situated in the centre of St. Julian’s, close to many bars and restaurants, the building looks recently renovated. The apartment had everything needed: iron, hairdryer, cutlery, safe, and air conditioning. The bathroom even has a speaker system for streaming music. It was very clean, had clear access instructions, good Wi‑Fi, and complimentary water bottles.
However, the location’s nightlife made it noisy at night, and my partner had trouble sleeping. We also had a power cut that affected only our building, apparently due to a fuse issue; this had happened before. Emergency lights came on, but the main entrance door wouldn’t open, so I had to let three separate couples in because they couldn’t get in. The room doors were battery‑powered and kept working. The lift was out of order, so we used the stairs for the rest of the stay. I called three different numbers provided, but neither management nor maintenance answered; the lady who answered the housekeeping/booking line finally helped us, and she deserves a raise. There was an unpleasant bathroom smell, which I’ve seen before on islands, so it’s hard to say how easy it is to fix. On another day the air conditioning stopped working, again linked to a power issue; after contacting one of the numbers, someone came to reset the fuse.
