Located 2.5 km from central Wernigerode, the family-owned Sporthotel Wernigerode offers homelike rooms with free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, and private bathrooms, each with garden views. Cómo valoran los huéspedes el hotel, aspecto por aspecto.
The rooms were spacious and clean. The location was easily reachable on foot or by bus to the city center. Breakfast was a bit meager for 18€ per person. The usual standard you usually get everywhere for less money. I, as a vegan, got oat milk for my coffee. For a sports hotel I also expect that the offered sports activities are free and not charged extra. My son is an athlete and that’s why I booked this hotel.

The restaurant was modern and clean. The restaurant toilets were also very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. In my room I had no cold water in the evenings/at night. Showering was not possible in the morning. The bed linen and towels smelled musty. 18,-€ per person per day for breakfast is far too expensive. Only low‑quality food was served. The buffet was only refilled on request (reluctantly). Warning! At arrival or billing the guest receives many secondary charges; parking, dog, etc.

The location was great for drivers, the bathroom was nice, the windows were sound‑proof (which was necessary), and there were plenty of hangers—something you don’t often see—plus parking right next to the property and easy jump‑starts for cars. On the downside, the reception was closed at 4 pm, so I could only check in after calling; the bell I found didn’t work. There was no elevator, ants showed up in the jam at breakfast, and sweets like cake were missing from the morning spread; also no water was offered at breakfast, which was odd for a three‑day stay. A cleaning sign was posted once but the room wasn’t actually cleaned, there was no mobile signal, and while the hotel can’t control that, the lack of reception alone would stop me from booking again.
