The staff were great, especially the Scottish front desk employee who really went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. The location and historical charm left something to be desired.

This place was fantastic; the welcome was warm and the historic building had plenty of charm, including a big desk in our room and a cozy dining room downstairs. The hot pool right outside our room with an adjacent sauna and cold plunge was totally unexpected and absolutely delightful, and I had it all to myself for over an hour. The hotel supplied slippers, robes, and towels, and the usual kettle with tea and coffee was present along with a small refrigerator. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast buffet was excellent, and the dining chairs were covered with sheep fleeces! The room could have had more lighting, and the fan provided was not effective for moving air, which was a problem with the room being too warm and having no cross‑ventilation.

We were disappointed because we stayed in the annex; the main building is traditional and quaint. The restaurant was expensive but good.

I liked the spacious rooms in the newer annex building and the restaurant was excellent, albeit a bit pricey, plus the hot tub and sauna were nice; however, the surrounding area felt rundown and there was a construction site nearby.

The interior is beautiful. The rooms, especially the bathroom, are moist.
