Seeing Green Udawalawa

The property feels brand‑new: the cottages and the pool are both beautiful and comfortable. Unfortunately, not every part of the complex was finished, and we were the only guests that night. The owner was very helpful, even though his English was limited, and he cooked us a tasty local dish for a small fee; we ate outside because the lights were a bit problematic.

The place is lovely, still in development but with a nice finish, charming cottages, and an amazing pool. The staff were attentive and handed us a large, tasteful take‑away breakfast because we were heading out on a morning safari with UdawalaweEthicalSafari (highly recommended). The baby elephant care home and the Hungry Monkey restaurant were also enjoyable. Just remember to bring enough cash for any cash‑only transactions.

“Eigentlich ein schönes Hotel.”

It was a very nice hotel overall. We were the only guests. The room was very simple. The pool is great, only about half a year old, and the water is very clean. Dinner was tasty and generous. The accommodation isn’t really prepared for foreign guests: there is only water at dinner, no milk for coffee, and the cutlery and plates were still wet.

“Exceptional property and embrace yourself for warm hospitality!”

We’re a family of four with two kids and we traveled to Sri Lanka in July 2026, covering Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Udawalawe, Weligama, and Galle, staying in five different hotels. Out of all of them, this was by far the best. We were welcomed warmly and taken care of a lot. The owner lives on the property and is a very nice person; he literally went out to the market to meet our dinner requests. The food served was really good. We had local Sri Lankan food for dinner and breakfast, prepared to our preferences, and they arranged our safari. The owner got up early before the safari truck arrived to make sure we had snacks and a light breakfast to take along. At checkout, he packed snacks for our journey to Weligama. They have a huge pool, kept neat and clean, and you’ll see peacocks roaming around the property. Overall, we loved our stay. On the way into the property, you’ll spot plenty of wildlife—deer, elephants, iguanas, wild boars, monkeys, and peacocks. Don’t hesitate to book; it’s absolutely worth the money. We just had some wifi issues, but that didn’t matter when you’re busy exploring nature.

“A fabulous experience, perfect location, great customer service.”

Excellent stay in a green, peaceful setting with lovely lodges and an amazing infinity pool. The owner was very friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we wanted, even driving to the local shop for extra drinks. Breakfast was fabulous and ready for us when we returned from our mining safari.
