If you’re looking to experience pastoral living and a wonderful time in Omalo, this place is a must‑visit. Everyone here is kind, and the food is simply delicious! I stayed for four days and had breakfast and dinner each day, all homemade by the host, and every meal was tasty. The portions were generous, so I couldn’t finish everything (sorry). When we went trekking during the day, they would give us leftover bread and vegetables for lunch if we asked. Omalo also offers a serene atmosphere with a perfect starry sky. I spent almost every night lying on a hilltop watching the Milky Way and countless stars, which was a luxurious experience. However, the night paths and hilltops are truly pitch black and dangerous, so bring a wide‑beam flashlight or ask the host for a headlamp if you’re uneasy with a phone light. The room I stayed in had a mountain view and fresh air when opened. The bed creaked and the futon was thin, so some adjustments might be needed, but overall it was a good room. The shower would start after an hour if requested, and the Wi‑Fi was reliable, staying at 5–10 Mbps without dropping. I was a bit worried about signal loss, but the Magti connection worked well. Of course, there are power outlets, but bring a single‑plug extension cord, and because the room is slightly higher up, a longer cord is advisable. If you need a car on the way out, the host can arrange it. Whenever you have trouble, just ask. Finally, the staff are truly kind and friendly. Even though I’m Japanese and we didn’t speak the same language, they used translation apps repeatedly to communicate. Locals also came by for meals, and they made me feel part of the circle, laughing and having fun together. And it’s super cheap! The hosts and their friends made it an amazing time—thanks! If I get the chance to return to Omalo, I’ll definitely come back.
