The guesthouse has an impeccable design, soothing with natural colors. The pool is a highlight. The owner is very friendly and kind. A relaxing and comfortable place. For improvement, the breakfast should be more varied; it’s minimalist, and the 60‑lei per person price isn’t justified. The bath water was brown all the time, which was unhygienic. Staff was insufficient: no soap in the bathroom, and breakfast plates emptied quickly of the few slices of tomatoes and cucumbers, the only vegetables, so I had to point it out. Fixing these would help a lot.

Fantastic host with great tact, making guests feel at home. Excellent English communication. Delicious food, option to purchase dinner and lunch: two courses, dessert, drinks… including homemade items. You can eat inside or outside under a roof, which is very pleasant. Comfortable, spotless rooms equipped with everything needed. Everything is well maintained; even the pelargoniums on the balconies have their faded flowers trimmed. Very good spa area— we didn’t use the sauna, but the pool was warm and heated daily, with bubbles available. Outside, the grounds are tidy with comfortable loungers. A few minutes’ walk from the property is one of the eight wooden churches on the UNESCO list— highly recommend entering to see the murals. The rooms have brochures with fairly detailed descriptions— worth taking along during the visit— interesting depictions of fines for various sins— Uncle Google and AI help decode them. We really enjoyed Maramureș; if we ever go again, we’ll definitely return to Octavian. Warm greetings from the road!

I had a very pleasant experience at **Maramureș Retreat & Spa** in Poienile Izei. The hosts are extremely welcoming and attentive, and the service is excellent. The food is tasty, well prepared, and uses quality products. The spa area is very enjoyable and perfectly complements the relaxing atmosphere. A beautiful, quiet, and well‑maintained location that I recommend to anyone wanting a few relaxing days in Maramureș. We will definitely return! Nothing to criticize.
