The owner also charges a hefty 350 DKK for sheets and linen per stay (one pillow only), and you’re asked for that after you leave, no matter how short the stay.

The owner now charges a steep 350 DKK minimum for linen and towels per stay for one person, a fee that’s easy to miss because it’s not included in the initial payment.

Nothing worked out this time. I had booked the Serengeti but was rerouted to Kilimanjaro after the owner said Serengeti was overbooked. I asked for a partial refund because the new place is cheaper, but it was hard to get, especially since the room was non‑cancellable after confirmation. I accepted the offer. The owner blamed the mix‑up, which seems to be a common excuse for poor communication. At about 1 AM a man tried to enter my room using the same room number the owner had sent us both. After comparing notes, it turned out the owner had sent identical messages to both of us. Luckily there were other rooms available. This was scary for a solo woman and definitely not a good experience. In the morning there was no hot water. Communication was bad, often done through ChatGPT with long irrelevant paragraphs. Phone calls go unanswered.
