It’s convenient for visiting our daughter, and we’ve stayed here before and found it charming. This time the pub was shut for a private event that we weren’t told about when booking; we only discovered it at check‑in. The pub’s music licence runs until 11.30 pm, but the event played loud music until midnight, then lowered the volume only slightly. People didn’t leave until 12.30/12.45, and the noise from the staff clearing up after them kept us from any peace until 1 am. The bed needs a new mattress and is not very comfortable, though breakfast was good. We complained in the morning that we shouldn’t have been booked for a room without knowing about the private event; we would never have booked it had we known. The young girl apologized and said she would speak to the manager, but the manager hasn’t reached out, so we’ll never stay here again. My advice when booking is to call ahead and confirm there’s no private event.

It was a classic English pub with a charming old‑time vibe.

The spot was great, but the shower was too small and didn’t work until a staff member fixed it, and there was no food on a Sunday afternoon.
