Threshershack Inn, perched on Malapascua Island’s beachfront, grants direct sea views and a sun‑lit terrace overlooking a lush garden. Family rooms feature private baths, balconies, air‑conditioning, tea/coffee makers, refrigerators and wardrobes. Free Wi‑Fi, shared kitchen, lounge, picnic and barbecue areas serve guests. Logon Beach lies two minutes away; snorkeling, diving and fishing are offered onsite.

The location is good and the nearby reggae bar is worth a visit, but despite the room being clean, there were large cockroaches under the balcony that slipped into the room at night through the main door slit. I wanted to stay longer, but I left early anyway. The staff were friendly and helped me get rid of the insects.

I spent three nights there and it turned out to be one of my most memorable hostel stays in the Philippines; the rate for extending in person was really good. They provide filtered drinking water and hot water for making your own coffee, and it’s nice not to have to wake anyone up for early dives because we were all heading out together. I enjoyed hanging out with the dive staff during downtime—Gary and VP are thresher shark experts who’ve done a lot for conservation on the island, and Rafi showed me local food options that I’ll never forget, especially the almost lethal chili peppers. The dorm is very basic with just a fan, so it can get hot; the bathroom and common area are concrete, cold‑water only, which is fine for me but might be an adjustment for others. Still, it remains one of my most memorable hostel experiences.

The location is good, just meters from the port, and the staff are friendly. There’s no air conditioning; they provide small fans by each bed, but on hot days it can feel suffocating. The room had seven beds and only one bathroom, so you had to go barefoot, and the bathroom was always wet from the shower with no towel to dry off, making it uncomfortable to enter barefoot.
