The room was gorgeous, spacious, and very clean. We had a lovely little break after our honeymoon. We were in room 306 and found the TV to the left of the bed hard, which hurt our necks – that was the only complaint, and we were baffled by it.

When booking I was offered the option to notify the hotel of my arrival time from a drop‑down menu. I selected the latest option. Only after they had taken my payment did they confirm by email that my check‑in time was rejected. Later I learned there is a £25 charge for a late check‑out, and at no point was this made clear or was I offered the option to cancel free of charge. I was left with the choice of losing 100 % of the booking or paying a fee that equated to about 15 % of the cost. Over a 9‑hour period I had numerous calls with the hotel trying to find a solution. The central reservation line was poorly managed; I was told they would call back, but they didn’t for 6 hours, so I chased them. I was then informed that their supervisor was on a mandatory 45‑minute break and nothing could be done. The computer says no attitude. I waited again, no call back, I chased again. It was a really poor experience where common sense failed to be applied. Triple‑check all costs… I am glad my request for a double bed was approved, as I dread to think how much the bed would have cost on top of the room hire!

I loved the location and the stack venue, and the inn itself was fabulous. Nothing to complain about.

The food was good and most of the staff were friendly. The location was lovely, with a sea view and a balcony. I was surprised to discover that breakfast wasn’t included in my booking, so we had to pay extra. I felt the £200+ per night rate was excessive without breakfast, and it was even worse that we were charged for self‑service coffee in the breakfast room, which seemed a bit mean. The charges have gone up significantly since my last stay and now feel excessive.
