“Good wine, Gianfranco is a douche”
The wine, the room, the staff, and Anthony were all good, but an event during our stay made me suggest checking for scheduled events ahead of time. The overall vibe felt like they were trying, yet something was missing in the hospitality. Because of the event, the beautiful terrace was occupied and we were the only table inside, feeling a bit forgotten, though it gave us a front‑row view of behind‑the‑scenes action. Dinner was decent and somewhat special, but at four courses for the price you could easily find a better, more authentic local dinner nearby for half the cost. The owner eventually appeared, a little belly leading the way, reached out his hand, and simply announced his name, as if expecting us to be thrilled to meet the legend. Watching him run the place like an unsuccessful dictator, mostly shouting at his staff, left us not exactly starstruck. If you’re into Primitivo, definitely come for the tour and tasting, even stay the night, but skip dinner and eat somewhere local instead.
