The accommodation was very clean, the host friendly, and breakfast was good.

It was a peaceful place with a beautiful garden, yet close to attractions in Derbyshire, and the local pub was an excellent choice for dinner. The breakfast was lovely, the bed comfortable, the room cozy, and the spa bath soothed aching legs after a long walk.

It was quiet at night so I slept well, and the bed was comfortable. I had to fill in a “breakfast form” each day, but the staff ignored it, and the water tank was too small to fill the spa bath.

The room was spacious, had interesting artwork, and comfortable furniture. The garden was very peaceful and meditative, and there was a friendly cat to meet. A good pub and a lovely café were a few minutes’ walk away. The only complaints were that I ordered “no tomato” for breakfast but a tomato was served anyway, and I ordered coffee but received tea. The garden was large and interesting with many South‑East/East Asian items, but its condition was not ideal, likely due to the weather, and some ornaments such as the shrine gate were placed randomly and out of context.
